Ann Mulligan
As Ann Boyd I started learning to play in the Templemore School Band in September 1960 under tuition from the band's conductor Alfie Bell. My first instrument was Bb cornet and after a few years I changed to Flugel Horn.
In August 1969 I married Carroll Mulligan and in December 1972 I applied to join Agnes Street Silver. Until then Agnes Street was an all male band and I was admitted only on the strict conditions that I would never be appointed to a principal position nor would I be permitted to march with the band.
During the next 20 years I played Bb Cornet, Eb Soprano, Flugel and EbHorn.
In Jan 1993 I transferred to the 55th Old Boys and played Bb Baritone and Percussion and in December 2002 joined Laganvale on percussion.
I have recently moved back to brass and currently enjoy playing Eb Horn.
