Ernest Ruddock
Ernest Ruddock's association with brass bands started in March 1952 at the age of eleven when he joined the Agnes Street junior band as a cornetist. Seven months later he was promoted to the senior band, and he stayed with them for 40 years.
He was Principal Cornet from 1960 - 1967 before his appointment as Musical Director in 1969, a position he held for 23 years with many contest successes in that time. He resigned this post in 1992 and then conducted the 55th Old Boys' band for 10 years before accepting the post with the Laganvale Silver Band in October 2002.
Ernie was for 23 years a peripatetic teacher of brass and woodwind with the City of Belfast School of Music and has adjudicated at brass and flute band contests locally.
