As mentioned before a member of the band is doing a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro - Mark Ruddock (that's me the WEB master so I can use this site to publicise it :-)).  It is for Action Cancer and you can sponsor me at www.justgiving.com/mark-ruddock.  I have organised a Charity Concert to help raise funds on Saturday 19th June 2010 in Glengormley Methodist Church, Ballyclare Road, Glengormley from 7.45pm to 10pm.  It will feature the band and two guests singers, Karen Marsden and Ken MaFarland.  So please come along if you can to help support this fine cause.  Tickets are available from myself on 07962 169394.  There is a poster advertising the concert here and if you can please place it in your band hall or any outlet you can think of to help promote the concert.  I would love to get 200 people at it which would raise £1000 for Action Cancer.  Please note 100% of all sponsorship received and all proceeds from the concert will go to Action Cancer (I have paid for the trip myself).

Congratulations to the band on getting 12th place back up in the Senior Cup of the Blackpool Spring Festival on 15th May 2010.  The band played well though had a few more nervous errors than usual which probably  cost us a position or two.  But still a fine result considering the caliber of the bands in the section.  And congratulations to the winners Woodfalls (who also shared the same hotel as us and our a great bunch of people).  Full results of all sections in the contest are here.

24th April 2010
Congratulations to the band on winning the Championship section of the BBL today (194), with 1st old boys second (193) and Strabane 3rd (191).  Also many congratulations to Clive McBride winning the soloist prize on trombone (3rd contest soloist win in a row for Clive) and to the bands percussion section for taking the percussion prize.  So it was a clean sweep and hopefully will encourage the band to play well in Blackpool in 3 weeks.  Of course, congratulations to the prize winners in all the other sections.  Full results should available on the BBL site (see Links section).

A member of the band is doing a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro - Mark Ruddock (the WEB master so its me!).   It is for Action Cancer and is from 25th June to 4th July 2010.  If you like to sponsor me (have to use all possible outlets to raise sponsorship :-)) then please visit www.justgiving.com/mark-ruddock.  All contributions gladly accepted!  Now should I bring me mouthpiece with me and buzz the Hallelujah Chorus when/if I reach the top!!

24th February 2010
Finally got round to updating the site!

Recent events were the BBL Solos on 13th February.  The A solos were won by James McCabe so congratulations to him.  And well done to the runners up and other winners/runners up in the other sections.  Please see the BBL site (in our Links section) for full results.  And I have to say congratulations to our quintet who won the Senior Ensembles so well done to Dessie, Jacqueline, Alan, David and Gareth - all the hard work was worthwhile :-) !!

And most recently was the Fivemiletown Entertainment contest on Saturday past.  Another exciting day was had by all and congratulations to 1st Old Boys who won the senior section.  They also took the March prize but we sneaked in one result with our very own Clive McBride winning the Soloist prize on trombone.  And congratulations to all the other winners and runners up on the day.  Again the full results can be found on the BBL site.
